For us at the Millard Fuller Foundation, we have for the past 11 years remained committed to our cause – the provision of affordable houses to Nigerians and low-income earners on a sustainable basis.
There is no doubt that we have made significant progress in this regard. We may not have gotten to where we desire to be just yet, but we are double sure that every of our step takes us closer to our goal of providing 5 million affordable homes to Nigerians by 2030.
We are grateful for the commitment of our partners, board members, management and staff who have toiled tirelessly through the year to make 2017 an amazing year.
The numerous commendations from within and outside Nigeria have further motivated us to do more; worthy of mention is the Award of the Most Affordable Housing Project of the Year 2017, which we won at the 11th Abuja Housing show.Truly, every Nigerian, no matter how poor, deserves to have a roof over their head and a place to lay their head at the end of every day’s job.
In 2016, we entered into a partnership with the Family Home Funds (an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Finance) and under this partnership, a total of 212 units of semi-detached one and two bedroom bungalows were delivered. Another set of 400 housing unit is presently under construction and they are currently at lintel level; we are set to deliver a total of 4,000 units of one and two bedroom semi-detached bungalows by December 2018. We look forward to more partnerships in the coming year.
On behalf of the staff and management of Millard Fuller Foundation, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2018.
CEO, Millard Fuller Foundation
