The Millard Fuller Foundation is set to exhibit its products at the 12th Abuja International Housing Show scheduled to take place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, from Monday, 16th to Thursday, 19th July 2018.

As an annual event which brings together housing sector professionals and stakeholders, the Abuja International Housing Show provides an avenue for organizations and individuals to sell their products and brands to potential clients and investors.

The convener of the Abuja International Housing Show, Festus Adebayo in an interview, has promised that this year’s edition will witness new innovations that have been added to the largest housing show on the continent.

Some of the unique innovations, according to Adebayo, include the introduction of the CEO’s forum, women in the housing sector initiative, international real estate investment forum and the youth in real estate development forum.

According to him, “The CEO’s forum is unique in the sense that leaders in real estate, banking, building materials and technology will be meeting together to address the issue of affordable housing finance holistically”.

He further stated, “We will be launching the women in housing sector initiative. The show will also feature youth in real estate development. As you know, there are a lot of youths who are excelling in real estate and there are some who have not discovered the opportunities in the sector; the idea is to catch them young and teach them by educating them on housing mortgage, among others.”

With the Theme: “Driving Growth & Sustainability In Nigeria Housing & Mortgage Markets - Improving Structures & Policies For Impact”, this year’s event, according to the convener, will feature 30 Speakers and 350 exhibitors from not less than 10 countries.

As part of the Federal Government’s effort to find a lasting solution to the huge housing deficit in Nigeria, the chairman of the Family Homes Funds Task Force, the Hon Minister of State II for Power, Works & Housing, Alhaji Sulaiman Hassan, mnis, paid a working visit to the project site of The Millard Fuller Foundation (the GrandLuvu 1 and 2 projects) on Thursday, 15thFebruary, 2018.

The Hon. Minister of State who came in the company of HOU FRSC Housing Cooperative DCC Ebenezer Adebisi; representatives from the office of the Vice-President of the Federation; the chairman, sub-committee on off-takers and other delegates from the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, was received at the construction site by the CEO, Millard Fuller Foundation, Sam Odia and other staff members of the organization.

Odia, who thanked the Hon. Minister of State for paying a visit to construction site said, “Most families in Nigeria should be able to afford our houses. With infrastructurein place, our basic shell studio unit goes for as little as N1.6M which is by far the cheapest any formal developer in Nigeria can offer.”

Odia, who noted that the provision of affordable housing was a call from God to provide houses for people who are truly in need of shelter, and not for investors, said that it was possible to build a studio unit for as little as N1M with Government  providing land and infrastructure.

While describing the social impact of the GrandLuvu projects on Nigeria’s economy, Odia said: “The social indicators just as important as delivering the houses, and since this project started, a total of 4,195 temporary jobs have been created. This does not include the vendors who provide daily services on the site.”

The Minister of State, who agreed that a majority of Nigerians need a decent roof over their heads, applauded the efforts of The Millard Fuller Foundation in their quest to ensuring that Nigerians have access to affordable housing. He further said that the cost of the houses could further be driven down if Fuller could make “savings” on some aspects of construction.

The Family Homes Funds Task Force was set up by the Economic Management Team of the Federal Government of Nigeria to facilitate the implementation and delivery of the Family Homes Housing Projects across Nigeria. One of such projects is the Grand Luvu project by The Millard Fuller Foundation.

Founded in 2006, the Millard Fuller Foundation is a faith-driven organisation which promotes collaborative and innovative partnerships with individuals and organisations in an unrelenting quest to provide, on a sustainable basis, affordable housing for all people in need. With its corporate headquarters in Masaka, near Abuja, the organisation is set to deliver more than 3,000 housing units to the Family Homes Funds in 2018 alone.
