Top officials of the Town Planning Department, Nasarawa State Urban Development Board (NUDB) were at The Millard Fuller Foundation’s housing site on an inspection tour of the proposed site for the construction of 400 housing units.

The inspection which took place on Thursday, 6th April, 2017 had architects, town planners and surveyors from the Town Planning Department of the NUDB in attendance.

The proposed site which is an extension of the GrandLuvu 1 Estate, which won the award of the most Affordable Housing Estate in Nigeria at the 10th Abuja Housing Show held in 2016, is expected to deliver more affordable houses to Nigerians and low income earners in studio, one bedroom and two bedroom semi-detached units respectively.

Speaking shortly after the inspection, the head of the delegation, Mr. Bashayi Ovey Albert, NUDB Controlling Officer, Masaka/Nyanya/Gwandara, appreciated Fuller for going through the proper channels before commencing construction. He said; “Millard Fuller Foundation has been consistent over the years in seeking approval for housing designs before starting with construction. The design for this estate was submitted a while back, we are here to do our job of ensuring that the designs meet the required standards. Though we made some observations, Fuller Foundation has done a good job.”

Bashayi further urged the residents of Masaka and its environs to ensure they get planning approvals for their house designs from the NUDB before they commence constructions. This, he said, will prevent their buildings from being demolished by government authorities.
